2022 Presidential Election
The President of the French Republic is elected by direct universal suffrage.
The President of the Republic appoints the Prime Minister, who proposes the members of government to the President, who then appoints them.
The President chairs the Council of Ministers, enacts laws and is the head of the armed forces.
His mandate lasts for 5 years and renewable once.
The next election will take place from 10 to 24 April 2022.
How to check if I am enrolled
The French citizens can vote abroad for national elections (presidential, legislative, European elections and referendums) and local elections for councillors to French citizens living abroad when they are registered on the consular electoral register.
All the enrollement details can be checked and updated via the Register of the French citizens who live overseas.
Check your registration
To be eligible to vote you must check if you are registered on the electoral register via Service-Public.fr.
Important : Indicate your full name at birth (maiden Name) as well as your first name(s).
How to register
It is possible to apply for your registration on the consular electoral register:
By internet (via the register of French citizens living abroad)
Onsite (consulate or embassy) or by mail
People without an internet connection can apply at the Consulate General of France in Sydney with the documents listed in this article Register online in the register of French citizens living abroad (Article in French).

Where do I vote?
The location for voting will be advertised for Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adélaide, Port Moresby and Suva.
No pre-poll option or eVote applications.
