Ambassador Lecourtier visits Brisbane
The Ambassador arrived in Brisbane on Wednesday afternoon to meet with representatives from Trade and Investment Queensland and the state government’s Department of State Development. Accompanied by our honorary consul Lady Jane Edwards, economics counsellor and the President of the Queensland Chapter of the French Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry they discussed how France and Queensland can work together on innovation and investment.
On Thursday the Ambassador visited Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) base Amberley. He had the opportunity to witness firsthand a training flight for a French made RAAF KC-30A Airbus refuelling tanker with French pilot Wing Commander Guillaume Michel who is currently on exchange at RAAF Amberley.
Following a tour of the base, the Ambassador presided over a moving ceremony where he awarded 10 Australian World War Two veterans who for fought for the liberation of France during the D-Day campaign with the Legion of Honour. The veterans were joined for this occasion by their families, friends and a number of high ranking RAAF officers.
To conclude his visit to Brisbane, the Ambassador met with Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk.
