Awarding of the insignia of Knight in the ‘Ordre National du Mérite’ to Bertrand Cadart
The Ambassador of France to Australia, H. E. M. Stéphane Romatet, awarded the insignia of Knight in the ‘Ordre National du Mérite’ to Bertrand Cadart, on the 8th of March in Hobart, in the company of M. Eric Berti, Consul General of France in Sydney.
M. Cadart, a unique character, is a very well-known personality in Tasmania. Mayor of Glamorgan Spring Bay Council (in the East of Tasmania) since 2007, M. Cadart arrived in Australia in 1972. A journalist on Australian radio, with a passion for motorbikes, he played the role of an outlaw in the first Mad Max film in 1978. A proud Tasmanian, who nonetheless holds true to his French roots, M. Cadart is a popular figure in the Island State.
