The article L 5111-1 of the French Health Code defines as medicine, any substance or composition presented as possessing curative or preventive properties towards human or animal diseases, as well as any product which can be administered to man or to animal to establish a medical diagnosis or restore, correct or modify their organic functions. In France, the Ministry of Health enforces the regulations relative to medicines.

Medical drugs for personal use may be imported in a sufficient quantity for 3 months of treatment without prescription (or more than 3 months of treatment with a prescription), provided they are carried in your luggage.
Anyone can bring medicines for the treatment of a third party being in France (example: relative, child).
A prescription is mandatory for medical drugs containing narcotic and psychotropic ingredients.

Note: importation of quantities exceeding the limits set for personal use is prohibited.
