Oceanic tales in the spotlight at Telopea Park School, Canberra [fr]

A country with an oral tradition, New Caledonia has given birth to many tales and legends that often tell of the close ties between people, the land and the ocean.

As part of the French Language and Francophonie Week (12-20 March 2022), with the support of the New Caledonian government, the Centre de rencontres et d’échanges internationaux du Pacifique (CREIPAC, Nouméa) is repeating last year’s operation by putting Oceanic tales and New Caledonian storytellers in the spotlight in Australia.

Laurence Bergery, storyteller in New Caledonia, will speak by video-conference from Noumea to two classes of Y2 students from the French-Australian High School in Canberra (Telopea Park School) on March 16th.

Yves Lafoy, Official Representative of New Caledonia to Australia, based at the French Embassy in Canberra, will attend the video-conference before being interviewed by the web radio and some students from Telopea Park School.
