Official award ceremony of the Rank of Chevalier in the National Order of Merit to Mr Rupert Myer (13 February 2012)
On Monday the 13th of February, M. Rupert Myer, chairman of The Myer Family Company, was confered the insignia of Chevalier de l’Ordre national du Mérite (Knight in the National Order of Merit) by the Ambassador of France, H.E. Mr. Stephane Romatet.
Mr. Myer has been distingued for his involvement in the Arts, Culture and Humanities in particular via his foundation, The Myer Foundation, or his position as chairman of the National Art Gallery. Mr. Myer has undeniably played a major role in the promotion of French art and culture, collaborating with French museums to bring exclusive exhibitions to the Australian public.
In the last 12 months alone, Mr. Myer has contributed to various exhibits such as the Louvres Egyptian Antics, the Turner to Monnet or Degas shows. The next one will start within weeks and will be dedicated to the Musée D’Orsay’s post-impressionist masterpieces.
