Séries Mania Festival in Melbourne
ACMI (Australian Centre for the Moving Image) and Film Victoria held the inaugural Series Mania Melbourne last week, attracting over 4,000 people to ACMI
The world’s most prestigious TV festival, this was the first time Series Mania had been held in Australia with the support of the French producers of the festival and the French Embassy.
Vince Gilligan, creator of the critically acclaimed series Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, headlined the event with two sold-out sessions.
Held over four days, the festival included the sold-out Stories Without Boarders Industry Day presented by Film Victoria, over 20 free screenings and Q&As, and premieres of some of the best new drama, comedy and web series from around the world.
ACMI CEO Katrina Sedgwick said “The success of Series Mania Melbourne is a testament to the place TV has in our cultural landscape. Partnering with Film Victoria to bring Series Mania from France to Australia for the first time, we were thrilled to see the huge groundswell of support and excitement from fans and industry alike."
Held annually at the Forum des Images in Paris since 2010, Series Mania is the fastest growing festival of its kind, and a key event on the global TV industry calendar.
