Statement on the OECD report on climate financing [fr]
Climate – Statement by the minister of foreign affairs and international development on the OECD report on climate financing (October 8, 2015)
I welcome the publication by the OECD of the report on climate financing. This report, which was commissioned by the Peruvian presidency and the French presidency of COP21, provides, for the first time since 2009, a detailed assessment of progress with respect to the commitment of countries of the North to mobilize $100 billion by 2020 in support of climate.
These estimates demonstrate that considerable progress has been made, thanks to the mobilization of almost $62 billion in 2014. We must mobilize our efforts to provide the remaining $40 billion. I would like the meeting in Lima on climate financing, which I will attend tomorrow, to provide an opportunity to secure new ambitious commitments, notably on the part of the multilateral development banks.
