Tribute to Judge James Crawford [fr]

H.E. Jean-Pierre Thebault, Ambassador of France to Australia would like to pay tribute to James Crawford LLD, FBA, AC, SC, eminent Judge of The International Court of Justice.

A distinguished academic, James Crawford was one of the leading public international scholars and jurists of his generation. Prior to joining the International Court of Justice, Judge Crawford was the first Australian member of the United Nations International Law Commission. In 1985, he was appointed member of Institut de Droit International. His passing is a great loss to the whole international law community.

H.E. Thebault wishes to extend its heartfelt condolences to his family, his colleagues and his country, Australia.

James Crawford was a friend of France who will be deeply missed.
