Call for projects Fonds Pacifique 2025: call now open!!

A call for projects is launched by the Permanent Secretariat for the Pacific, to support projects with the "Fund for economic, social and cultural cooperation for the Pacific ", or "Fonds Pacifique". The selected projects will contribute to the regional insertion of the French communities: New Caledonia, French Polynesia and islands Wallis and Futuna.
Projects submitted for this call by Australian partners shall be submitted to the Embassy of France in Australia, by 18 December, 2024.
To be eligible, the selected projects will have to fit in one of the following fields:
• Projects allowing the French communities to be associated with the fight against climate change, environment conservation, and with the risk prevention of disasters. Priority will be given to projects in the run-up to the United Nation Ocean Conference schedulled in June 2025.
Economic projects within the scope of the sustainable development, and implementing the French Pacific territories capabilities or fostering their integration in regional economic exchanges. Priority will be given to projects in the audiovisual and craftsmanship sectors in 2025.
Food safety (management of halieutic resources). Projects with operational impacts and projects fostering the networking of the French Pacific territories capabilities for regional solidarity will be given special attention.

The projects must be co-financed at least at 50 % of the total amount of the eligible expenses. Confirmation of funding from other sources must be included in your application.

PHC FASIC 2025 Program: call now open!!

The objective of this program is to develop academic, scientific and technological exchanges of excellence between laboratories in both countries, by encouraging new cooperation and the participation of young researchers.

Submitted projects must be joint research or teaching projects involving at least a French and an Australian research partners.

A matching fund from the partnering Australian research institutions is mandatory and will stand as one of the eligibility criteria of the submitted projects. A letter of financial support from the research Australian institutions must be attached to the application.

This program will be implemented through two specific instruments:

  • The FASIC Workshops Scheme supports the organisation of bilateral scientific workshops, jointly designed by French and Australian research groups on thematics of strategic interest for the future of the cooperation. Due to the pandemic, particular attention will be given to proposals for online workshops.

  • The FASIC Academic/Researchers/Post-Docs/PhD students (or FASIC ARPD supports the mobility of academics, researchers, post-doctoral students or PhD students affiliated in France, DOM and COM included, or in Australia for a joint research collaboration, or teaching project.

Social Science Collaborative Research Program 2024: call now open!!

The Embassy of France in Australia and the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia are proud to announce the launch of the Social Science Collaborative Research Program. This research funding program is intended to foster and reinforce social science collaboration between Australia and France through:

  • Research activities on a topic of interest to both Australia and France, provided to eligible French and Australian researchers, especially early and mid-career researchers.
  • Research activities relevant to Pacific Island Studies (including those in French overseas territories).
  • Research activities relevant to the Indo-Pacific region.
  • Research activities with the capacity to support the development of strategic alliances between France and Australia.

SAAFE program 2024

The objective of the SAAFE program is to foster research collaborations between France and Australia in nuclear science and engineering in the field of health, environment and nuclear technologies.

The program will support early career researchers at PhD and post-doc level to expand research and innovation activities and to initiate sustainable research networks and linkages to support Australia and France research and innovation.

AFRAN Call for initiatives 2024-2025

The Australian-French Association for Research and Innovation aims at significantly supporting the development of research and innovation collaborations between France and Australia through a set of activities that raise awareness on areas of mutual interest in France and Australia, as well as untapped opportunities, at federal but also locally at regional, state and institutional levels. The Association plays an active role in running events and communication initiatives to support a growing community of members, as well as facilitating bi-national dialogue on research and innovation issues.

AFRAN will offer funding up to AUD $4,000 towards logistics and/or travel costs for selected initiatives. AFRAN will support in-person, hybrid and online versions of feasible activities (including webinars, workshops, Q&As with community outreach, online hackathon-innovation thinktanks etc).
